There is so much choice in the smartphone market today that sometimes it is really hard to know which model of phone to buy from which company. Smartphones have become an integral part of our lives. We use them to make calls, answer emails, watch movies and a number of other purposes.

Therefore, before buying a phone, we should first understand what other functions we will need besides calling and writing SMS, and make a decision accordingly. In any case, there are some basic things to know in advance.

The following seven tips will help you make the right choice.

1. Screen size: Large or small screen?

Screen size is important to many people, especially if you watch movies or read on your phone. When reading about smartphone screens, you will come across terms like Retina, Full HD, AMOLED, qHD and others.  You should choose a phone with a quality screen.

Regarding the screen, pay attention to the resolution and the pixel density (the more pixels per inch, the higher the quality of the screen, and therefore the clearer the image), the information on the screen should be clearly readable even in sunlight.

2. Phone price and your budget

Price and your budget are the most important factors to consider.

There are many new and convenient competitively priced alternatives to fit everyone's budget.

You should try to choose a phone within your budget, you don't have to buy the most expensive phones, the most expensive doesn't always mean the best.

A number of companies make smartphones that are more affordable, just as stylish, and have almost the same features as the more expensive phones.

3. Memory capacity

Most modern smartphones have a built-in microSD card slot, and it is possible to expand the phone's memory, but many phones do not have this feature.  So this is also worth paying attention to. For example, Apple phones usually do not have this feature. It is also important to know in advance what you need to store on your device, and what can be transferred to a cloud application, such as Dropbox. In any case, it is advisable to buy a smartphone with as much storage space as possible, of course within your budget.  It is always advisable to have extra free space on your device.

4. Operating systems

Each brand usually uses its own operating system, such as iOS, Android, Windows Phone. However, many brands use the standard Android operating system. iOS operating systems only work on Apple devices. So try to figure out ahead of time what works best for you.

5. Battery capacity

Another important factor is battery capacity.  Hardly anyone would want to have a phone that runs for two or three hours without recharging. There are smartphones whose batteries can be easily replaced, but this is not the case with most smartphones. So it would be nice if the phone you choose had this feature. You can also have a Power Bank charger, but first, it costs extra money and also has its own problem: it also needs to be constantly charged. So it's better to buy a phone with a relatively powerful battery.

6. Processor type and RAM

Type of processor and RAM Modern devices use several processors, and when reading about them, you will come across such terms as single-core, dual-core, quad-core and octa-core. The more cores, the more powerful it is.  However, iPhones, for example, use dual-core processors made by Apple, which have better performance than many quad-core processors.

Here's what you need to know about RAM: the bigger it is, the better the device will perform (at least 4gb and more will be good).

7. Camera

Modern smartphones have fantastic cameras in general․ It is better to have quality optics than a high resolution camera. If the camera has an LED flash and BSI sensor, that's always welcome. It's also important to know that mobile communication is now standard 3G or 4G, replacing 2G. Now you can easily find smartphones with 4G support at very affordable prices. You should also consider whether the company you buy the phone from has a service center in or near where you live.  For example, Apple and Samsung are known for their good customer service.
